Above or Below Ground Oil Tank, what’s the difference?

Heating Systems in your homes or buildings are accompanied with Oil tanks located outside the main building area to carry or store fuel used for heating purpose. There are two choices for their establishment: One is the above ground form while the other is the Below Ground form. Both these types of Oil tank Removal & Installation have their pros & cons associated with them. There are risks while there are benefits as well. And this discussion is dedicated to somewhat clarify the difference between these two forms of Installations.

Above ground Oil tanks can be easily located as you don’t need earth to be dug out for adjusting the tank underneath the surface. But, being on the outer region of your land, they take up a considerable amount of space of your property. Other advantages include easy inspection for unexpected leaks that may occur at some corner of the tank, easy tank removal etc. However, it would be equally difficult to live in the house if the tank is situated at some covered region of the house. Rings of smoke will pollute the air around & let you breathe with difficulty.

On the other hand, if your oil tank is situated under the ground, it will not affect the continuity of your life majorly. But, it will also be unhelpful to warn you about any danger associated with it. There may be a tank failure accident that just gets unnoticed because the tank is away from your sight most of the time. Because it takes time & efforts to fit it inside the earth cavity, it takes time & money to inspect it of any failure or cleaning purpose. Underground Oil tank removal is an expensive task . It also causes Soil pollution. Thus in case you’re about to buy a home, an inspection of Oil tank leaks & nearby failures is a must.

Technologically advanced Tank Testing Techniques are available to gauge leaks & approximate life of the tank for future use in order to avoid any huge hit of expense ahead.
